Organizing Tools to Declutter Under Your Bathroom Sink

Today we’re going to talk about ways to declutter under your bathroom sink.  A few weeks back, we looked at ways to declutter your medicine cabinet, so now, let’s finish off the bathroom by diving under the sink and into the cabinet drawers.

Steps to Declutter Under Your Bathroom Sink

When you begin to declutter under your bathroom sink, you’ll need to remove everything to assess what you have and what you’d like to keep.

As you remove the items, sort them into categories: makeup, bath products, skincare, medicine, etc. Throw away (or donate) anything you don’t want to keep or anything that is expired. Sorting the items makes it easy to store them in their proper place.

Now that you have everything in front of you that you’d like to keep, you can start putting them back into the cabinets and drawers. Keep in mind that this sequence of steps is required whenever you decide to organize any part of your home (your closet, kid’s toys, your kitchen.)

The fun part of organizing is putting everything away in a beautiful, functional way. Here are some organizing products I use in my home and my client’s home when organizing their bathroom. These products are tried and true for keeping clutter at bay, and once you set up the perfect system, you’ll wonder how you ever managed before!

Baskets Under the Sink

Baskets are the absolute best way to corral items in your bathroom. These baskets are pretty to look at and are large enough to hold a bunch of similar items together.

You could put all of your shampoos, body lotions, razors, soap, cotton balls, swabs, bath bombs, and hand towels in the baskets. The sides are pretty tall, so you won’t have to worry about things falling over. They are available in white with wood handles and are sold as a three-piece set.

Multipurpose Containers for Bathroom Drawers

These containers are marketed for use in pantries and refrigerators, but I love to use them in the bathroom. They function just like the baskets under the sink, but in drawers.

If you have deep drawers in your bathroom, these containers are perfect! They come in a set of 4, are about 3 inches tall, and will keep things nice and tidy in your cabinet drawers.

Two-Tier Sliding Baskets

This two-tier sliding basket is the workhorse of the bathroom. I love how you can use more of the vertical space in the cabinet, but the best part is when you push the drawer in there is a stopper to keep it from sliding off the track.

This basket includes a divider and a dry erase label. I’ve used other sliding baskets in the past, but find that these work the best. I use them under every bathroom cabinet and the kitchen sink! They are also larger than they appear and hold a ton of stuff.

More Under the Sink Organizers

I really like to use this toothbrush and toothpaste holder in every bathroom drawer because it keeps the toothbrush nice and clean. When you put the toothbrush in, it faces down so it stays clean and can dry out completely. It holds two toothbrushes for multiple users.

This is a perfect solution for the shallow drawers in your bathroom. This set contains six acrylic containers of different sizes, which will allow you to create the perfect fit. They can store makeup brushes, bobby pins, nail clippers, tweezers, earrings, rings, floss, etc.

If your drawer is a deeper one, these containers can also stack and slide to allow you to use more space in the drawer. I love this set for its versatility and use them in my office drawers as well.

If you’re a makeup girl, this acrylic organizer is for you! This organizer can easily fit into your bathroom drawers if you put it in sideways. Be sure to measure the height of your drawer before purchasing! They are small enough to fit 2 of these in one drawer.

I use them to hold perfume bottles as well as lipsticks, eyeliners, eyelash curler, mascara, blush, concealer, and backup makeup brushes. Putting the makeup in your drawer will allow you to keep your bathroom counters clutter-free!

Protect Your Investment

Last, but not least is the shelf liner. This is the MOST IMPORTANT product you need to organize under your cabinet sink and drawers. I never organize any cabinet or drawer without first lining it with shelf liner. I have seen way too many cabinets ruined because the homeowner didn’t know that something had spilled under the sink. These liners will help protect your cabinets from spills or water leaks.

What I love about these liners is that they are non-adhesive but stays put, easy to wipe clean, and comes in a variety of designs. I like to use white because it gives the drawers and cabinets a nice, fresh look before adding the acrylic organizers and baskets. These particular liners also have marks on the back for easy cutting and straight lines.
