Allergy-Proof Your Bedroom-5 Simple Ways!

If you suffer from allergies or asthma, getting a good night’s sleep can be difficult if you’re spending most of the night sneezing, sniffling, or wheezing. Consider these five simple ways to allergy-proof your bedroom during allergy season.

How to Allergy-Proof Your Bedroom

  1. Add a ceiling fan to the room will help keep the air circulating. Just make sure you dust it regularly, or you’ll be moving dust throughout the room.
  2. Getting rid of the carpet and installing hardwood floors will eliminate dirt and dust trapped in the fibers. A bonus is that hardwood is easier to keep clean.
  3. Install wooden blinds instead of curtains for the same reasons as hardwood floors: curtains trap dust, and wood is easier to clean.
  4. Add an air purifier to the room. An air purifier can help remove dust, pollen, and smoke circulating in the air and causing allergic reactions.
  5. Use plastic bins to store items and avoid fabric ones that can trap dust.

Cleaning Tips for Allergy Sufferers

In addition to those tips to allergy-proof your bedroom, here are five cleaning tips to keep dust and mold at bay.

  1. Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter on upholstery and curtains.
  2. Dust walls and ceiling fans often.
  3. Move furniture monthly and vacuum under and behind it.
  4. Clean with a microfiber cloth. Microfiber cloths trap dust instead of tossing it around.
  5. Wash bed sheets at least every week in hot water.

Hopefully, these tips can help you remove allergens from your bedroom and allow you and your family to breathe easier during allergy season! 🙂

    1. Yes I do actually! I have the Idylis Air Purifier with HEPA & UV-C, but the one you select would be based on the size of the room you’re putting it in. We purchased ours at Lowes. Whichever purifier you purchase make sure you get extra filters so you’ll have them on hand. Thanks for stopping by!
