Since we are in the laundry room to primarily wash clothes, it would be fitting to have a proper laundry basket to gather dirty clothes. I usually recommend one with three compartments to make wash day more manageable. This is great to have in the laundry room because everyone can throw their dirty clothes in the proper section, eliminating the need to sort them when it’s time to wash them.
The next item I highly recommend using when you declutter the laundry room is an over-the-door organizer for holding your ironing board, iron, and ironing supplies. This way, you can keep all of your ironing supplies on hand when you need them.

If you frequently hang wet clothes to dry, you will need some type of wall drying rack. If it’s located in the laundry room, it will eliminate the need to carry wet clothes to another room to hang. I really like this one because it folds down out of the way when you’re not using it.
It’s a good idea to put your cleaning supplies in pretty baskets to help decorate the space. You’ll need at least three baskets: one for detergents and fabric softeners, another for stain removers, and a third basket for random cleaning supplies. I usually recommend these baskets to my clients because they come in lots of different colors and sizes.
The best way to keep your laundry room clean is to place a small trash can in the laundry room. Where else are you going to throw away lint, fabric softener sheets, and the mystery items found in your kid’s pockets? 🙂 This is the one I usually recommend. It looks sleek, and because of its slim size, it fits in tight spaces.
