7 Simple Ways to Decorate Your Foyer

Select a paint color for the walls that will complement the rooms adjacent to them. The eyes should flow past the foyer into other rooms without it being jarring. Because this is a high traffic area, consider using a warm color that will be less likely to show marks on the walls.

Add a console table, a round table, or a bench if you have room. Be sure to place them out of the line of traffic. The table can be functional for gathering keys and mail and it is also decorative.

When adding accessories to the table, don’t add too many or it will appear cluttered. Think about adding family photos, collectibles, and other items that will give your entryway a warm, inviting feeling.

Consider putting interesting artwork or a mirror on the wall. A mirror helps to make the space look larger and gives guests a chance to check themselves before entering your home.

Make sure there’s enough light in the foyer by using a chandelier, wall sconces, or table lamps.

An area rug helps to design the foyer.  You can choose a runner, a rectangular rug, or a round rug in the center. Add rubber backing to the rugs to make sure they are not slippery.

To create a welcoming feeling, add plants or flowers to a table and pillows to make a bench more comfortable.

That’s It!

When decorating the foyer, remember that this is the first part of your house your guests will see when entering. Make it as inviting as possible by showcasing who you are and the things and people you love.
